Dr. Mark Distler is a native of Louisville where he was raised as one of four boys whom all still call Louisville home and ALL are Cardinal fans. He attended the University of Louisville for his undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry and philosophy. His medical degree was also obtained here. He completed his Pediatric Residency at Kosair Children’s Hospital where he also served as Chief Resident. Although working at Middletown Pediatrics in a part-time capacity since its establishment, he spent 13 years as a private pediatrician in southern Indiana and is now excited to call Middletown Pediatrics his new home. He is married to Dr. Dana Distler and they have three children. His interests include a passion for the outdoors, nature (except snakes), and environmental issues. Watching and playing (before twins) basketball also occupies a place in his heart.

Dr. Lisa Shoemaker Borden is from Anchorage, Kentucky. Although she was born in Omaha, Nebraska, she considers Kentucky her home. She grew up in Louisville with her older and younger sisters... yes, she was the “middle child.”
After high school, she attended the University of Notre Dame, the home of the Fighting Irish! Although she dearly loved her college experience, being away for four years taught her the importance of living near family, so she traveled back to the Bluegrass State for medical school. Dr. Borden graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2002, and then went on to complete her pediatric residency training there in June of 2005. She has served as Pediatric Chief Resident and Assistant Professor at the University of Louisville, while working as a hospitalist for Kosair Children’s Hospital. She and her husband currently reside in Crestwood, KY, where they enjoy grilling out and spending time with family. When they have free time, they love to go sailing and snorkeling, which involves another one of her personal interests...traveling to warm places. She also makes time for pleasure reading (James Patterson is her favorite) and dining out (as you can see that cooking is NOT listed as one of her personal interests).
